Methodology

How facilities are chosen, how every bid is put on one 36-month basis, and where every figure comes from.

Which facilities are invited to bid

For each request we invite at least three facilities that can meet it. A facility is invited when:

  • it is operated by the company that will sign the agreement with you, not resold space;
  • it can commit the requested power per rack, redundancy and cooling method in writing;
  • its interconnection claims check out against PeeringDB, where the networks you need are listed;
  • it states its SLA, the credit formula and the credit cap;
  • it can quote within the request window and commit a delivery date.

Facilities that pay a placement commission and facilities that don't are invited on the same terms, and ranked the same way.

How the 36-month cost is computed

Every bid is put on one basis:

  • Recurring = committed kW x rent per kW + breakered circuit charge (if any) + cross-connect monthlies + transit + remote hands hours x rate. Recurring charges step up by the contract escalator every 12 months.
  • Metered power = kW x average draw x 730 hours x billed PUE x utility rate. A pass-through: held flat over the term.
  • One-time = setup + cross-connect installs.
  • 36-month cost = 36 months of recurring and power, plus one-time charges.

Where a bid leaves a line blank, the shortlist flags it as not stated rather than treating it as free. SLA credits are shown and ranked, not subtracted from cost. The same formula runs in the public calculator.

How the shortlist is ranked

Three options are marked: the lowest 36-month cost; the best SLA and network (uptime commitment, credit cap, networks on site); and the fastest committed delivery. Ties go to the lower 36-month cost.

What bidders see

Providers bid blind: they see the technical spec only, never your name, email, phone or company, and never a file you upload. We introduce you only to the provider you pick.

Make facilities bid for it

Send your spec or the renewal notice you just received. At least three facilities that fit bid blind, and every bid comes back on one 36-month cost.

  • Blind until you pick: facilities never see your name, email, company or files.
  • Every bid on one basis: rent, power model, cross-connects, escalators and SLA credit caps.
  • You sign direct with the facility. Participating providers pay our desk a placement commission when a buyer we introduce signs. It never changes their price or how we rank them.

Blind colocation counter-quotes

At least three facilities bid against your spec. Reply within one business day.

PDF, PNG, JPG or WebP. Redact your company name and IP blocks if you like: we need power, space, cross-connects, price and dates.

Single point of contact. Providers bid blind: they see the technical spec only, never your name, email, phone or company, and never a file you upload. We introduce you only to the provider you pick.
